Allow me to introduce myself - I am Josef, a software developer from Germany. With this post, I want to give some insight into how my blog came to be and what I intent to do with it. In case you want to get in touch, do not hesitate to reach out via email which can be found in the about section and the imprint as well.
This blog was one of my many side projects. It started without a clear direction and gradually evolved into something worth sharing. So how did this blog came to be? It basically evolved out of a side project which I started to learn some new programming techniques. I am an autodidact, which means I am actually teaching me everything by myself. And as such I try to translate my learnings into meaningful outcomes in order to keep my curiousity up and show myself what I already learnt. While this blog started as a small side project, I realized that hiding it in my private GitHub repository would be a disservice as it grew. An additional advantage is that I am now able to share other projects I undertake with my website. In my effort to get you to explore this platform, I have deliberately avoided any form of advertising. The design of the blog is intentionally minimalist to ensure optimal readability. If you have any suggestions for improvement, please don't hesitate to send them to me via private message. As I wanted to save time and didn't want to build everything from scratch I used a preexisting template. You are able to inspect it under this link. I was really happy to find this template because it reduced my effort going into the design and knitty little details of the design which usually requires a lot of time (CSS can be very frustrating sometimes 😄). This allowed me to focus on the framework and technology I actually wanted to learn by creating the blog.
I'm constantly learning from a wide range of content - from literature to technical resources. Like everyone else, I need inspiration to boost my motivation - for my studies and my work. I hope these articles serve as a catalyst and help me to structure my projects and thoughts on certain topics. This leads us to the main point of this post - a glimpse into what I might write about in the future.
When I think about my website, I see it as my personal playground and this influences also the articles I will write in the future. The blog is not intented to cover one specific topic and serve as a forum for people only discussing coding stuff. I want the blog posts to cover all of my interests I have here - and these are a lot. Sometimes it seems to me that my curiosity is endless as I have a lot of hobbies. These include, for example, ambitious hobby cooking, reading, doing sports, painting and playing the piano (I also studied classical singing for a few years and even received a scholarship at the time) and learning new languages. So - to make it short - you will have a wild mix of different topics in here I guess.
As I am occupied with my studies and work I do besides it, I do not really know how much content I am able to put on this blog and you, dear reader, have to be patient with me as I am not a fast train. But I am optimistic that the content will grow and the posts worth reading. This is also because I do not have the intentions to use AI for generating the posts. I want to improve my english and writing skills and to me it feels that using an AI like ChatGTP will hinder my intentions and slow my personal development in this area. I really hate the word "authentic" (it is a top contender for the most-hated word of my vocabulary) but probably it is best to describe how I write my posts. You can be sure they are AI free and really transport my personal thoughts and feelings. As it is very early in the morning, I will go and grab some coffee and end this post here. But I hope that you will not stop reading and continue to explore my articles and projects.
P.S. I really love the photo you can see in the background. I is shot during sunrise on top of Mezada in the southern desert of Israel. In the background you can see the dead sea (pun intended). The mountains covering the horizon are already in Jordan.
Sincerely, Josef
